After three weeks in the hospital with my mom and during two weeks in self-isolation recovering from a virus during the time COVID-19 tests were not readily available, I spent my time intensively researching viruses, working on my personal healing, and developing new routines.

To share da Love, I’ll be sending out my discoveries through our award-winning Women’s Biz Coop newsletter.

In this blog, I’ll write about how I healed myself.

At the Vitamin Shoppe, I researched and purchased many products that I sorted as immune system boosters for pre-infection, those to take during infection, and post-infection ones for immune system maintenance.

Pre-Infection:

  1. Daily, I take a multi-vitamin that has 260 mg of Omega 3s Fatty Acids. Remember the lipid envelopes viruses have that help them slip by? Well, some fatty acids can help to deactivate lipid envelopes of various viruses and can cause complete disintegration of the lipid envelope and viral particles, depending on the fatty acid and virus.
  2. I eat coconut milk, a short-to-medium chain fatty acid to soothe my sore throat, and kill some viruses, bacteria, and fungi with a touch of Zinc to further boost my immunity.
  3. Other sources of fatty acid include citrus, apples, strawberries, raspberries, mango, and herbs like sage, astragalus, and moringo.
  4. My infamous “Vegetables in a Pot” soup, made with the immunity boosters of lemon peel, thyme, and parsley and topped with 1-3 cloves of raw garlic. Garlic is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal, when you eat it raw, thanks to allicin.
  5. Vitamin Shoppe’s Immune Complete with vitamins A and C, zinc, echinacea purpurea extracts, elderberry extracts, and astragalus roots. As I learned from my research, echinacea purpurea is anti-viral and boosts the immune system. Elderberry can decrease the time one has a virus since it binds to the spikes of a virus protein and can destroy them to keep them from invading healthy cells. The debate is still out on Elderberry and COVID-19 since Elderberry can cause a cytokine storm (Remember interferons? There’s too many in severe COVID-19 cases). Astralagus helps to strengthen the mucosal and dermal lining, your immune system’s “intrinsic epithelial barrier” Please don’t take if you are allergic.
  6. Teas included licorice root, slippery elm bark, marshmallow root, and orange peel with cinnamon bark.

I started my Pre-Infection Protocol during infection, yet it helped my partner get through his symptoms of dry cough, fevers, body aches, dizziness, and some shortness of breath in a record time of 9 days.

During Infection:

  1. Tylenol to reduce fevers. I took Rapid Release. Later we bought Tylenol Cold + Flu Severe. My partner took it every night for his Day 3-7 since his coughing and fevers would keep him up at night.
  2. Fluids, due to lack of appetite: cloves and cinnamon with rosehips tea and honey, plus ginger, lemon, and agave. I brewed 2 batches: ginger and lemon with agave and clove, cinnamon with rosehip and honey. It’s like the Korean warming tea, Sujeonggwa, without the persimmons. Originally, I was drinking cooling teas for chest stress and shortness of breath with fennel, licorice root, eucalyptus, and peppermint, but it didn’t feel good. When I switched to spicy warming teas, the heat made me feel better, like I was burning the mofo out of me.
  3. As it got worse in my chest and I couldn’t get a test, I took Pau D’Arco {Afflilate Link}. It’s an Amazonian tree bark that can treat colds, flu, herpes, and stomach viruses. Quinoids in it help to stop virus replication by destroying DNA and RNA inside viral proteins that would have thrust themselves into a healthy cell.
  4. Pau D’Arco twice a day turned my tide to stop the virus from invading my lungs. That, and my personal and energy work from our Secrets of 10%: How to Win in Almost Any Situation. Get a preview of Secrets here.

Once I did my personal and energy work, making peace with this virus, it popped right out of me two days later and into its next host, my partner.

Post-Infection:

  1. Day 16, I’m better as my energy increases, but my partner has a tickle in his throat. He had been taking the Pre-Infection Protocol, but his dry coughs escalated into fevers and dizziness with a little shortness of breath. We maintain my During Infection Protocol, adding more food as my appetite comes back.
  2. His Day 5-6, it goes into his chest more aggressively than in my case. He does his personal and energy work from our Secrets of 10%: How to Win in Almost Any Situation to stop the virus from invading his lungs. Get a preview of Secrets here.
  3. His Day 7, he is off Tylenol Cold + Flu Severe. For a person who hardly remembers his dreams, he says he has a miraculous dream, which is similar to my conscious experiences with the virus.
  4. His Day 8-9, with some more personal and energy work, he’s fully recovering.
  5. My Day 25 and His Day 10, we are both much better at 95% recovered and energetic. Both of us are smaller from losing weight and we are still eating, drinking teas, and taking vitamins.
  6. My Day 26 and His Day 11, we start taking St. John’s Wort and I’m searching for dandelion tea to clear our liver energies and any leftover COVID-19 anger against the mishandling of this pandemic and so many needless deaths around the world. Hung on doors in the olden days to ward off evil spirits and illness for people and animals, and used as a treatment for wounds during the Crusades, it fights off viruses through hypericin. St. John’s Wort is normally an anti-depressant used in many prescription drugs, including anti-depressants, birth control pills, cancer medications, and blood thinners.

Unexpectedly, the virus offered us both a personal, cathartic healing process, with a greater devotion to our health and hygiene. Also, it’s given both of us a greater focus on our purpose and a stronger connection and appreciation to our family and our community.

In general, viruses exist in all species and do assist in our evolution as it passes genes from one host to another.

Thanks to viruses, we’ve been able to study microbiology and virology as we come together to unite for a common purpose.

Although this time is confusing and can be full of fear and overwhelming to many of us, I have solid faith in our human spirit and innovation that we will find a cure.

We always have.

Despite the darkness, we always find a way for love…

So take a minute, an hour, or a day to breathe in all the love, so much love, in deep cleansing breaths:
Inhaling love…
Exhaling fear…
Inhaling gratitude…
Exhaling anxiety…
Inhaling peace…
Exhaling anger…
Inhaling harmony…
Exhaling dis-ease…
Inhaling love…
Exhaling fear…
Inhaling love…
Exhaling love…
