When it’s your first time starting out running your own business, you really don’t know what the heck you’re doing. Everyday you wake up and you know there’s a 100 things you could be doing today. So you pick one and run around frantically doing that. Until you jump into something else, for reasons you don’t know, and do that for a while.
You have no standards to compare it to, and rarely find friends who understand. With #StartMyBusinessToday, you are forced to slow down, think, and build your foundation first. And that makes the world of difference in gaining your next customer and investors too.
In turning my first prospect into a client, I learned to balance giving enough information about myself, including testimonials and background, but also balanced a careful tone of being inviting but not pushy. I also embraced the philosophy that a coach with no client, is not a coach! You can raise your fees later, but in the beginning just start out coaching people and the referrals will come, and then… you can raise your fees. Very important— focus on your next client, singular, not plural.
